Paint and Bodywork Technician

We are recruiting a paint and bodywork technician with long-term career aspirations to handle all aspects of paint and clear coat preparation and application at our Winchester, VA facility. Extensive experience is not necessary, but a basic familiarity with the processes involved, a "can-do" attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow instructions to the letter are a must.

Klaus Composites is uniquely poised to cater to this demand with its commitment to design and engineering innovation, and adoption and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and methods. You will be playing a key role in the manufacture on exciting parts for projects that push boundaries in the motorsport, marine, aerospace, and other dynamic industries. 

Overview of Key Applicant Skills:
a) Familiarity in the preparation and application of high performance multi-part coatings
     i. Block sanding
     ii. Primer, basecoat, clearcoat, etc. spray application
     iii. Wet sanding and polishing
     iv. Safe handling of all materials involved
b) Tidy and well organized; Maintains workspace cleanliness
c) able to listen to and act efficiently and independently based on verbal and/or written instruction
d) understanding of weights, measures, and mixing ratios; reading tape measure, measuring weights and dispensing/applying materials based on data sheet specified mixing ratios and methods

Core responsibilities:
a) Preparing and finishing laminated parts and assemblies
     i. Sanding, cleaning, painting/clear coating as necessary
     ii. Wet sanding and polishing finished components to remove orange peel
b) Preparing plugs and molds with filling primer and block sanding prior to application of release materials and layup
c) Maintain shop and booth cleanliness; use all dust and fume collection measures available to maintain a safe, healthy, and pleasant work environment for yourself and your co-workers

Secondary Responsibilities (As Needed):
a) Assistance with laminating large items as requested by the laminating team
b) Composite part repairs
c) Shop maintenance, general cleanup

Minimum Qualifications:
a) High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:
a) Trade experience e.g. automotive bodywork technician, mechanic, carpenter, etc.
